Overview
The Maintain Names application is used to define and edit lists of names used as lookup lists in the rest of Arena. Examples of names include Franchise Owners, Store Sub Regions and Product Groups.
Additional Information
Names can be sourced from an external system, or maintained in the Arena Operations database. The Maintain Names application will only allow the user to edit the name if the names are maintained in the Arena Operations database. If the name is imported from the source system, this will be indicated by a red box around the Data Source field.
The following fields are visible on the Maintain Names application:
|
|
Type | Contains the name type. This is usually a friendly description indicating the usage of the name, such as Store Franchise Owner, or Product Group. Generally it corresponds to name types set in applications, so this field is read-only and cannot be changed by users. |
Data Source | Shows the source of the name. If this field is set to "Source", its values are imported from a source system and cannot be edited by the user. If it is set to "Operations", the name is maintained in the Arena database and may be edited in this application. |
Code | Contains a code, which usually corresponds to a business key in the source system. If the name is Operations maintained, the only requirement is that the code should be unique. |
Description | Contains the human readable description for the name entry. This is shown in drop down lists when the user searches for names in applications. |
Enabled | If this column is unchecked, the name entry will not be available to select from any application. |
Rep Seq | A field containing the sequence of names used in some reports. |
